Brownsville Ship Channel

Brownsville ship channel project location

The Brownsville Ship Channel was proposed to undergo enlargements to accommodate oil rig movement into the Gulf of Mexico.  Several proposed alternatives were developed to determine changes to hydrodynamic patterns and their effects on navigation of vessels in the ship channel. AdH was used to compute the velocity and depths for the various plans and provided for a ship simulation study in which pilots test how these changes affect the steerage and safe passage of a given vessel.
