Direct-Hire Authority (DHA) is an appointing (hiring) authority that gives a Federal agency the ability to fill vacancies when a critical hiring need or severe shortage of candidates exists without regard to sections of title 5 United States Code (U.S.C.).  Some of the ways that DHA expedites the hiring process is by eliminating the need to post job announcements on USAJOBS, the application of veterans’ preference (non-Veterans and Veterans are considered equally in hiring), and removes the rating and ranking process of the candidates.  ERDC is looking for engineers and scientists who want to tackle tough problems.
