The Image Based Feature Extraction (IBFE) focuses on remote sensing techniques for agricultural crop delineation. Spectral Reflectance measurements of crop types are collected using handheld spectroradiometers; Cropscan and ASD Fieldspec. This GRL project is in collaboration with the USDA Agricultural Research Service.

A Balloon Mapping Kit is launched. Information taken by balloon is one way in which scientists collect imagery information for geospatial crowdsourcing.
This image shows the Tangible Geospatial Modeling System (TanGeoMS) at North Carolina State University used for analyzing relationships between the morphology of elevation surfaces and dynamic landscape processes.  A flexible physical model can be modified by hand and scanned to create digital representations of altered landscapes within a geographic information system.
