    CHL’s Pre-Hurricane Sandy and Pre-Nor'easter Modeling

    ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL), working through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Reachback Operations Center (UROC), was asked by the USACE New York District to provide numerical modeling of potential inundation and overland flooding for Hurricane Sandy that made landfall on Oct. 29 and the nor'easter that followed on Nov. 7.

    Vicksburg LDP goes green with new organization recycling plan

    ERDC Vicksburg’s recycling efforts, in recent years, have been limited to modest amounts of paper, scrap metal and wood, as well as a few smaller items, such as prescription bottles and eyeglass and products collected on an ad hoc basis by employees. The current Leadership Development Program (LDP) class hopes to change that with the launch of a new recycling initiative.

    Carbon Nanotube-Infused Zinc Coating Combines Barrier Properties with Cathodic Protection

    A new zinc primer nanocoating, developed through a collaboration between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC CERL) (Champaign, Illinois) and Tesla Nanocoatings, Inc. (North Canton, Ohio), uses carbon nanotube (CNT) technology to inhibit the corrosion of steel.
