VICKSBURG, Miss.--ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory’s (GSL) Dr. Jesse Doyle’s research, "Emergency Paving Using Hot Mixed Asphalt Incorporating Warm Mix Technology," was recently published in the International Society for Concrete Pavements’ International Journal of Pavement Engineering.
The paper presents research results of a study on hot-mixed and warm-compacted asphalt incorporating warm mix technologies for use in emergency construction following a natural disaster.
Doyle collaborated on this article with three other researchers representing academia and private industry.
These research results led to the development of an overall emergency paving framework that takes advantage of the longer storage life and haul distances available with warm mix asphalt technology.
This research supports the U.S. Military's Force Projection and Maneuver Support capabilities, as well as the U.S. Army's Emergency Operations capabilities.
