    Three inducted into Waterways Experiment Station Gallery of Distinguished Civilian Employees

    A new group of U.S. Army Engineer and Research Development Center (ERDC) retirees were celebrated for their contributions and enshrined into the agency’s most esteemed collective in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Dr. Alfred Cofrancesco, Patti Duett, and Dr. William Grogan were inducted into the Waterways Experiment Station (WES) Gallery of Distinguished Civilian Employees during the agency's Induction Ceremony Thursday, July 27, at the ERDC Headquarters Auditorium. The achievement is the highest honor a former ERDC-WES site employee could accomplish, and the newest inductees bring the total number of gallery members to 116.

    Bidders will soon have the opportunity to learn more about how they can be involved with a recent partnership between the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) and the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) to create an experimental oyster reef habitat in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

    ERDC labs lead modernization of dredging evaluation guidance, tools for environmental compliance decisions

    The project delivery team for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Dredging Operations and Environmental Research, or DOER, Project 19-11 recently published technical guidance and tools for modernizing the conduct of dredging evaluations for open water disposal compliance.
  • Dr. Travis Thornell, a research physical scientist at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Concrete and Materials Branch (CMB) of the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL), and Debbie Brenner, a RESET Teacher Program participant who teaches at New Century Technology High School in Huntsville, Alabama, explore tools to utilize during their research experiment.

    As an inventor at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL), research civil engineer Justin Roberts has received seven patents, five of which are additions and improvements of the Hardened Alternative Trailer System (HATS) and Methods of Producing Same.
  • Ms. Patricia M. Sullivan became the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Associate Director in May 2014. As Associate Director, Ms. Sullivan assists the ERDC in managing one of the most diverse research organizations in the world, with seven laboratories located in four states and more than 2,100 employees, $1.2B in facilities and an annual research program exceeding $1.3B.
