    Luke Navarro, natural resource specialist with the Nashville District, has been selected as a participant for ERDC University. During his six-month research project at the ERDC’s Environmental Laboratory, he will work with scientific tools to automate analysis of geospatial data. During his orientation tour of four ERDC laboratories, Navarro, far right, visited the Aquatic and Wetlands Ecosystem R&D Center, where he will be based for his ERDC University project.

    Nashville District’s Luke Navarro selected for ERDC University

    Researchers from 10 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Districts have been selected for the 2023 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U). Luke Navarro, a realty specialist with the Nashville District, has been chosen as a participant for this detail program, now in its eighth year.

    ERDC Alumni Association presents scholarships to eight high-school graduates

    Members of the ERDC Alumni Association gathered with current ERDC employees, students and their families to present scholarships awarded by the alumni association this year to local high-school graduates.

    Scientists from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Environmental Laboratory (ERDC-EL) recently assisted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New Orleans District in measuring the turbidity near a dredging operation in the Bayou Rigaud Federal Navigation Channel.

    ERDC Researchers Co-lead Multiagency Team to Service Prototype Underwater Acoustic Deterrent System

    Researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), along with scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other partners, are currently working on a project to test the effectiveness of underwater sound technology on invasive carps — Bighead Carp, Silver Carp, Black Carp and Grass Carp — and the response of various native species of interest throughout the Mississippi River and Great Lakes basins, as well as additional native watersheds.

  • Zahraa Al Khafaji, project engineer with the Chicago District, was selected as a participant for the ERDC University Class of 2023. Her six-month project at ERDC’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory in Vicksburg, Miss., focuses on processes to become a concrete specialist for this USACE critical area, which provides the primary construction material for civil works and military structures.
