    The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) recently selected the Mississippi Chapter as winner of the 2011-2012 Walter R. Graalman Award at the silver level. The NCMA Mississippi Chapter consists of professionals from ERDC, the USACE Vicksburg District, L-3 Communications, Jackson State University and Stark Aerospace.

    The newly created Fuel Cell End Users Forum supports Directorates of Public Works (DPW) and other decision makers in determining fuel cell applicability at Department of Defense (DOD) installations. The forum was established by a partnership involving the Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC); the Department of Energy; the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center; and industry representatives.

    Collaborative telemetry project addresses Gulf sturgeon movement

    Researchers with ERDC’s Environmental Laboratory (EL) Fish Ecology Team, along with staff at the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, are working on a collaborative telemetry project to address Gulf sturgeon movement and habitat use within the project area of the Gulfport harbor expansion project in Gulfport, Miss.

    ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL), working through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) Reachback Operations Center (UROC), was asked by the USACE New York District to provide numerical modeling of potential inundation and overland flooding for Hurricane Sandy that made landfall on Oct. 29 and the nor'easter that followed on Nov. 7.

  • Vicksburg LDP goes green with new organization recycling plan

    ERDC Vicksburg’s recycling efforts, in recent years, have been limited to modest amounts of paper, scrap metal and wood, as well as a few smaller items, such as prescription bottles and eyeglass and products collected on an ad hoc basis by employees. The current Leadership Development Program (LDP) class hopes to change that with the launch of a new recycling initiative.
