The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory recently released a web-based Force Protection (FP) Portal that will strengthen ties to the Warfighter by improving access and availability of force protection information, products, research, designs and technology.
The portal was designed to provide a wide-range of products, including the ability to order CDs online. This instant technology transfer tool will provide the latest force protection information to Soldiers by allowing rapid access to updates and changes all at the click of a button.
The FP Portal consists of three main sections: Fixed Site Protection, Deployed Force Protection and a Miscellaneous Portal Section.
The Fixed Site Protection section includes a completely updated and reorganized Joint Antiterrorism (JAT) Guide, version 4, for the protection of fixed sites. The section provides processes, templates, and decision-aid tools for implementing DoDI 2000.16 AT Standards.
The Deployed Force Protection section is based on the Joint Forward Operations Base (JFOB) Protection Handbook and Small-Base Entry Control Point Guide. It provides processes, templates, decision-aid tools, tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP), and best practices for minimizing the risk of an attack to deployed forces and for implementing applicable DoDI 2000.16 Standards.
The Miscellaneous Portal Section will have content added on an ongoing basis; sections include the Deployable Force Protection (DFP) Program, Force Protection, news, products, R&D, and multi-media.
The FP Portal is best viewed in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8+ with ActiveX controls and JavaScript enabled. Attempted access using any other browser may give authentication errors and/or an undesired viewing experience. The FP Portal is available at https://erdc-fp.usace.army.mil and a Common Access Card is required to access this For Official Use Only site.
