Topographic Engineering Center

Who We Are

The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) is located in Alexandria, Va. Its mission is to provide the warfighter with superior knowledge of the battlefield and to support the Nation’s civil and environmental initiatives through research, development and the application of expertise in topographic engineering and related sciences.

Capabilities

Technical efforts are focused within four mission areas:

  • Information Generation and Management – encompasses research and development technologies for collection and processing of geospatial data, geographic information systems,
  • remote sensing, geospatial intelligence, and human terrain data collection and management in support of military or national objectives
  • Data Representation and Analysis – concentrates on the exploitation, analysis and display of geospatial information
  • – concentrates on the exploitation, analysis and display of geospatial information
  • Data Signature and Analysis – applies remote sensor derived geospatial and environmental data collection, processing and display
  • – applies remote sensor derived geospatial and environmental data collection, processing and display
  • Geospatial Applications – tests and evaluates the collection and processing methods of emerging geospatial systems, platforms and technologies
  • – tests and evaluates the collection and processing methods of emerging geospatial systems, platforms and technologies
