The purpose of CADET is to assist USACE engineers in determining the dredging depth of federally maintained channel design projects in order to provide accessibility to vessels that currently use the channel and/or vessels that are projected to use the channel in the future.  This is accomplished by calculating the vertical motion and squat of selected ships under a variety of conditions and using the results of these calculations in Gaussian and Rayleigh distributions.  The inputs to CADET include vessel parameters related to seakeeping and wave spectra.  Expertise in coastal engineering (specifically wave spectra) and knowledge of seakeeping are important to the proper application of this software.
