    Books to bytes: ERDC Library goes fully virtual

A team at the ERDC Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) is working to create a fully-immersive, interactive experience that is as realistic as physically walking into the Mississippi-based library with an ultimate goal of enhancing information and data discovery for team members around the world.

    ITL gains new high-performance computing system

    A new supercomputer will soon call the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) home. The system will support the Department of Defense (DOD) science and technology, test and evaluation and acquisition engineering communities and will significantly enhance ERDC’s ability to support the DOD’s most demanding computational challenges.

    ERDC’s Dozier exchanges the US for the UK

    VICKSBURG, Miss.— Only five people have been selected throughout the Army to participate in the Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program (ESEP), and Dr. Haley Dozier is one of them. Dozier, a computer scientist in the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), will be spending a year overseas working with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, which is an executive agency of the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence.

    New director selected for ERDC High Performance Computing Modernization Program

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) has chosen Dr. Jerrell “Jerry” Ballard Jr. as the new director of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP). With 33 years of experience at the ERDC, Ballard will lead the HPCMP, which leverages emerging state-of-the-art technologies, to support Department of Defense (DOD) services and agencies to meet their mission-critical objectives.

    CREATE program revolutionizes DoD acquisition efforts

    The High Performance Computing Modernization Program’s Computational Research and Engineering Acquisition Tools and Environments (CREATE) program is changing the landscape of Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition efforts. With a mission to produce high-fidelity simulation tools for ships, aircraft, ground vehicles, antenna design and meshing and geometry, the program is leading the charge to provide transformative capabilities to the defense community and currently serves over 2,400 government, industry and academic users.
  • Battle Lab Collaborative Simulation Environment offers ERDC new capabilities

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is now part of the Army Battle Lab Collaborative Simulation Environment (BLCSE), a closed restricted network that connects a variety of organizations and enables experimentation, prototyping and collaboration. Managed by the Army Futures Command, the BLCSE is in the process of being expanded to include new groups. The ERDC’s designation as a node within the network allows team members to utilize the BLCSE as they plan and execute programs, identify new opportunities to contribute to ongoing initiatives and help inform senior leader decisions.

    Trip to Republic of Korea provides opportunity to give back

    A team from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) recently deployed to the Republic of Korea to conduct cybersecurity vulnerability assessments of operational technology (OT), control systems and supervisory control and data acquisition systems on behalf of the Department of the Army. Due to local COVID-19 restrictions, the Advanced Threat Landscape and Simulations (ATLS) team was required to quarantine in barracks at Camp Humphreys for 14 days upon their arrival, a time they got through with the help of local volunteers. Grateful for their support, the team seized the opportunity to pay the kindness forward later in the trip.
