DENVER, Colo. — ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory's (GSL) Meghan Quinn was recently selected to serve as a peer reviewer and moderator for a Risk Assessment Session of the 2012 National Association of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) Conference.

As a peer reviewer and moderator, Quinn will help review papers, assist authors in preparing their presentations and facilitate Risk Assessment Conference sessions.

Officially formed in 1983, ADSO's origins date from November 1977 when 39 people were killed by the Kelly Barnes dam failure in Toccoa Falls, Ga. At that time, President Jimmy Carter issued an executive order directing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to inspect dams nationwide.

Currently, ASDSO has more than 3,000 members representing state, federal and local governments; academia; dam owners; manufacturers and suppliers; consultants and others.

The conference is scheduled September 16-21 in Denver, Colo.
