U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, Geospatial Research Laboratory, Data and Signatures Branch researchers recently received a notice of patent for a system that will be used with the ERDC-developed Water Diagnostics Operations Gear. The invention provides a water quality analysis system capable of making multiple simultaneous measurements of different water quality parameters and saving or transmitting this data for analysis. The vision and use of the system, when licensed and manufactured, would benefit users detached in remote small operation teams and the platoon to squad level soldier, and provides water quality analysis to any water purification unit for civil applications. The system related to this patent, aka the WaterDOG, will be used to provide a reduced unit improving upon current systems capabilities such as size, weight, and power for the analyses of physical water quality parameters towards water production in remote locations globally.
