    ERDC researchers test designs for lock improvements along the Upper Ohio River

    Researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) have partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Pittsburgh District for a study focused on replacing auxiliary locks at three sites along the Upper Ohio River — Montgomery Lock, Emsworth Lock and Dashields Lock.

  • CERL Team develops new decision support tool

    A U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Construction Engineer Research Laboratory (CERL) team has been working to develop a tool called Facility Investment Analytics, or FIA. FIA is a decision support tool for the Installation Program Evaluation Group Program Objective Memorandum planning that generates prioritized Facility Investment Plan data based on critical infrastructure requirements from Army senior leaders and risk prioritization analysis.

    A team from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Environmental Laboratory (EL) recently received the Sebastian Sizgoric Technical Achievement Award from the Joint Airborne Lidar Bathymetry Technical Center of Expertise (JALBTCX) at their annual Coastal Mapping and Charting Workshop. The award recognizes any worldwide public or private contributor striving to advance the science of using light detection and ranging, or lidar, in coastal mapping and charting.

  • ERDC-CERL managing project, awarding a $17.5 million battery contract to Lockheed Martin

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Operational Energy (OE) team at the Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) was selected to provide management for a flow battery at Fort Carson, Colorado. The team was selected based on its previous work with a research and development a flow battery prototype. ERDC-CERL is also awarding a $17.5 million contract to Lockheed Martin to prepare the Fort Carlson site, as well as to construct and demonstrate the flow battery. The $17.5 million agreement between ERDC and Lockheed Martin represents the largest dollar amount awarded as a result of submissions through the ERDCWERX platform to date.
