Time is a major factor in any contingency operation, especially when it comes to securing ports in order to transport personnel, supplies and equipment. When a pier or marine structure is damaged, it can cause catastrophic delays.
A team of researchers from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center assisted the Vicksburg National Military Park in assessing landslides and erosion on the grounds.
Duck, N.C., -- The collaborative During Nearshore Event Experiment pilot study is now underway along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, home to the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory’s Field Research Facility.
Dr. Brian McFall, a research civil engineer with the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, stands outside the Deltares building in Delft, Netherlands. McFall spent a year in the Netherlands working at the Dutch company as part of the U.S. Army’s Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program.
