    ERDC scientists assist USACE New Orleans District with turbidity assessment at Bayou Rigaud

    Scientists from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center Environmental Laboratory (ERDC-EL) recently assisted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New Orleans District in measuring the turbidity near a dredging operation in the Bayou Rigaud Federal Navigation Channel.

    Dr. Jennifer Miller, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District supervisory environmental engineer, visited a sediment placement site used by the district for placing navigational dredging material for shoreline stabilization and other eco-restoration sites nearby.

    ERDC researchers help prioritize support for Rhode Island hospitals during omicron surge

    When both the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) needed to prioritize hospital support in New England during the COVID-19 omicron variant surge in the beginning of January, they turned to the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Risk and Decision Science Team (RADST) led by Jeff Cegan.

    Dr. Igor Linkov, senior science and technology manager at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, has been selected by the George Washington University and Arthur S. Flemming Commission as one of 12 exceptional public servants in 2020. His research vision and methodology in risk, resilience and decision science have generated tools and practices that are in use by the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies.

    Unmanned aerial system training with Hinds Community College a boost to USACE

    It’s not often that someone is credited with advancing an entire program within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), but Jenny Laird, the unmanned aerial systems (UAS) lead for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Environmental Laboratory (EL), did just that by establishing the USACE UAS training program at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi, in conjunction with the ERDC Graduate Institute.
