Bridge Structural Health Monitoring System

Published Dec. 3, 2012

At the ERDC Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL), researchers have been working to demonstrate and validate state-of-the art and emerging, innovative technologies to remotely monitor the condition of bridges. The goal is to integrate durable, low-cost sensor systems with software that will automate Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). The system will provide advance warning of growing structural problems due to corrosion, materials degradation, or events such as earthquakes.
