ERDC adds Cobra to display project
VICKSBURG, Miss.(April 4, 2018)—Staff members at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center maneuver a Cobra helicopter into position near the former headquarters building. Led by Terrence Winschel, ERDC historian, the vehicle display project is a joint effort involving the Mobility Branch, who are moving all the vehicles along with additional support, and the Airfield and Pavements Branch, who are providing the matting. Both branches are part of ERDC’s Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory.

456 Siege Robotics Wins
The ERDC-sponsored Team 456 Siege Robotics, who won 2018 the Bayou Regional Competition is qualified to compete at the FIRST World Championships against more than 400 of the best teams from around the world the third week in April in Houston, Texas. ERDC Director Dr. David Pittman said, "This is a great example of the importance of STEM outreach for ERDC. These are the type of students we want to recruit to ERDC in the future!"

The Mississippi Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers organized and held “Shamrock Science at the Museum” on St. Patrick’s Day at the Mississippi Children’s museum in Jackson, Mississippi. Various STEM activities showcasing technologies from the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, music, food and fun were provided for more than 200 children and their parents.
