    Eight participants from across the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers were chosen for ERDC University, a six-month detail at the Engineer Research and Development Center. ERDC University graduation was held September 10 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Participants included from front row from left to right Garrett Watson and Jeff Crockett.     Corps of Engineers District selectees graduate from ERDC University

    Participants from eight U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Districts graduated from ERDC University (ERDC-U) in September. Now in its ninth year, ERDC-U pairs Corps division and district participants with relevant laboratory mentors for six-month research projects.

    Richard Piaskowski, a Fish Biologist with the USACE Portland District has been chosen as a participant for the 2024 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U).

    Garrett Hall, senior mechanical engineer for Portland District's Dalles Dam, has been selected for ERDC University. The goal of his six-month project is to gain knowledge from ERDC’s processes and capabilities in the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory for Dalles Dam improvements.

    Researchers from 10 U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Districts have been selected for the 2023 session of the Engineer Research and Development Center University (ERDC-U). Garrett Hall, senior mechanical engineer with the Portland District’s Dalles Lock and Dam, has been chosen as a participant for this developmental program.

    During his orientation tour of four U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center laboratories, Portland District’s Dr. Kyle Tidwell, left, visited the Environmental Laboratory’s (EL) Cognitive Ecology Ecohydraulics Research Facility for a briefing by the lab’s Avery Schemmel, research engineer, right, on Computational Modeling for Fish Tracking. Tidwell’s ERDC-U project of researching how civil work programs can support endangered salmon recovery in the Columbia River is based at this EL facility.

Dr. Kyle Tidwell, fish biologist with the Portland District has been chosen as a participant for detail program, now in its eighth year.
