    Four researchers in two laboratories at ERDC were recently awarded the 2024 Department of Defense (DoD) Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholar & Mentor of the Year Awards. The recipients are scholar Dr. Andrew Groeneveld and mentor Dr. Michael “Wes” Trim, both with the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL), and scholar Dr. Andrew Jin and mentor Dr. Igor Linkov, both with the Environmental Laboratory (EL).

    Four researchers in two laboratories at ERDC were recently awarded the 2024 Department of Defense (DoD) Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholar & Mentor of the Year Awards.     More than 120 attendees from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard and a multitude of federal agencies, as well as partners from allied nations with interests in the Arctic such as Canada and the United Kingdom, came to CRREL to discuss new technologies being developed, new means of international communication and how to overcome the challenges of maintaining Arctic dominance as a united group.

    CRREL hosts Arctic science and technology summit

    As focus continues to shift towards the complexities of the Arctic, the Department of Defense (DOD) hosted an Arctic science and technology (S&T) summit at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Hanover, New Hampshire.
