    The “Method for Treating Reducible Compound Residues Using Iron-Containing Bioreactor” provides a sustainable solution for managing industrial waste by utilizing iron’s unique properties in bioreactors. Filed in September 2017 and granted in September 2024, the patent was developed by two researchers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

    International Bat Week: ERDC goes to bat to protect winged allies

    According to the Department of Defense (DOD) Natural Resources Program, more than 300 military installations will be potentially affected by at least one bat species listing under the Endangered Species Act in the next five years. Researchers from ERDC's Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) and Environmental Laboratory (EL) are at the forefront of innovative projects aimed at understanding and preserving bat populations on DoD installations.

    New USACE tools improve wetland delineation accuracy and efficiency

    Scientists with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Environmental Laboratory (ERDC-EL) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Detroit District’s Regulatory staff are streamlining wetland delineation by developing Automated Wetland Determination Data Sheets (ADS).
