    ERDC selects new Information Technology Laboratory director

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) has selected Dr. Robert Moser as the new director of the Information Technology Laboratory (ITL). As director, Moser will lead a team of approximately 700 federal and contractor personnel who work in the areas of information technology, high-performance computing, data analytics, software engineering, scientific visualization and more. Additionally, he will oversee the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program.

    ERDC takes award-winning robotics teams to the FIRST World Championships

    VICKSBURG, Miss. – Over two decades ago, the U.S. Army Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) created a robotics team that was formed with a mission to provide educational experiences for young people by promoting hands-on learning in the community. Today, Team 456 Siege Robotics is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team that is made up of about eighteen students from across central Mississippi.

    ERDC unveils newest supercomputer in recognition of Medal of Honor recipient

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) unveiled and dedicated its newest supercomputer, an HPE EX 4000, in honor of Medal of Honor recipient and Mississippi native, Cpl. William “Kyle” Carpenter, in a ceremony held at the organization’s Information Technology Laboratory (ITL) in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

    The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center has chosen Dr. Jerrell “Jerry” Ballard Jr. as the new director of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP). With 33 years of experience at the ERDC, Ballard will be leading the HPCMP, which leverages emerging state-of-the-art technologies, to support Department of Defense services and agencies to meet their mission-critical objectives.
