VICKSBURG, Miss. - Victoria “Vickey” Moore was recently selected as chief of the Mobility Systems Branch (MSB), part of the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) and the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC).  Beginning her ERDC career as a contract student in 2000, Moore officially joined MSB in 2002 and spent 10 years conducting research and investigating analytical models for vehicle mobility and physical soil properties. She most recently served as an associate technical director for GSL.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve ERDC, GSL and MSB in this position,” said Moore. “I hope to promote personal and professional development amongst the branch, while sustaining and enhancing core research competencies.

“I also hope to identify, increase and build alliances with customers and stakeholders through active engagements, both nationally and internationally; collaborate across ERDC to build multi-disciplinary programs; increase transfer of technologies to the Army and other customers/stakeholders; and communicate effectively to foster a positive culture of excellence,” Moore continued.

Moore has a bachelor’s in computer engineering from Alcorn State University and a master’s in computer science from Mississippi State University.  As an associate technical director, she has been instrumental in the execution of programs including Adaptive Protection, Environmental Impacts on Sensor Performance and Austere Entry and Maneuver.

In addition to authoring several reports, Moore spent time as the CP-18 Intern training coordinator for ERDC. She is a member of the Military Operations Research Society and graduated from the GSL Leadership Development Program in 2008. Moore is married with three children and is a member of Word of Faith Christian Center.
