ERDC launches Engineering with Nature website

Published June 17, 2013

VICKSBURG, Miss.—Researchers with ERDC’s Environmental Laboratory recently launched the Engineering with Nature (EWN) website at http://el.erdc.usace.army.mil/ewn/ or www.engineeringwithnature.org.

The website provides a central location for obtaining up-to-date information on EWN projects, products, collaborations and points of contact.

EWN is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) initiative defined as the intentional alignment of natural and engineering processes to efficiently and sustainably deliver economic, environmental and social benefits through collaborative processes.

Since 2010, the EWN initiative has been introduced to more than 200 individuals across 23 USACE districts, all USACE divisions in the continental U.S., multiple programs within Headquarters USACE, and a range of partner and stakeholder organizations.

EWN team members have organized 10 workshops, seven dedicated sessions and presented at 15 national and international technical conferences targeted to engage technical communities critical to EWN advancement.

The capabilities and practices being developed through the EWN initiative provide direct support to the USACE civil works strategic plan, the USACE campaign plan, and the recently reinvigorated USACE Environmental Operating Principles.
