LEWISVILLE, Texas—ERDC Environmental Laboratory (EL) researchers at the Center’s Lewisville Aquatic Ecosystem Research Facility, Lewisville, Texas, recently met with the Army Corps of Engineers’ Fort Worth District personnel to discuss restoration projects.

Final planning for a Section 1135 environmental restoration project near Frisco, Texas, was completed and the project is expected to begin this fiscal year. ERDC researchers will begin test plantings of native aquatic and riparian species, following construction, to evaluate species suitability for the site, and will apply adaptive management for longer-term and larger-scale vegetation establishment. Project completion is expected in 2015.

ERDC participation was also requested for planning and implementation of a Section 206 aquatic ecosystem restoration project slated for construction along a portion of the San Marcos River, San Marcos, Texas, expected to begin in 2014.
