VICKSBURG, Miss.—ERDC Environmental Laboratory (EL) Senior Research Scientist Dr. Todd Bridges was recently appointed chairman of the Permanent Task Group on Climate Change (PTGCC) for the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure (PIANC).

The PTGCC cuts across all of PIANC’s commissions and includes members representing expertise in navigation and climate change from 20 countries and partner organizations.

The PTGCC develops information to inform PIANC on how navigation may be affected by climate change; develops technical guidance on where and how adaptation and mitigation actions need to be taken; and serves as a global focal point for knowledge and expertise for the navigation community.

The first meeting of the PTGCC under Dr. Bridges’ chairmanship was held Jan. 29 at PIANC headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, where they discussed potential future topics of activity for the PTGCC.
