ELKRIDGE, Md.—ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) personnel recently conducted a “fit and function” demonstration of the ERDC-developed Modular Protective System (MPS) around the Combat Outpost Surveillance and Force Protection System (COSFPS) in Elkridge, Md.

The effort demonstrated the system’s applicability for providing a rapidly-deployed, low-logistics protection capability for the COSFPS, which is a key component for fixed persistent surveillance within the Integrated Base Defense architecture.

ERDC plans to continue working with Joint Project Manager-Guardian as the transition arm for evolving deployable force protection technologies.

Both the briefing and demonstration were well received and resulted in an invitation to showcase the MPS at Fort Bragg, N.C., in April.
