VICKSBURG, Miss.—ERDC recently entered into an educational partnership agreement with the Vicksburg Warren School District (VWSD). The educational partnership agreement will support the mutual advancement of science and technology education.
The official educational partnership agreement signing ceremony, Nov. 8, was hosted by the ERDC Human Capital Office and was signed by ERDC Director Dr. Jeff Holland and Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, VWSD superintendent.
Other guests included Vicksburg Mayor Paul Winfield, members of the VWSD School Board, ERDC leadership and ERDC science and engineering outreach volunteers.
The agreement will support the mutual advancement of science and technology education in the VWSD and will allow both VWSD and ERDC to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics)- related opportunities including robotics, employment, and mentoring.
There is a growing national concern on the shortage of scientists and engineers that could impact the Department of Defense, homeland security and our nation’s economy.
The partnership agreement exemplifies ERDC’s and VWSD’s commitment to enhancing the opportunities of students and educators to make a difference for our nation.
