VICKSBURG, Miss. — As a committee member, Tingle will aid in identifying research needs, coordinating syntheses topics, reviewing technical papers, chairing technical sessions and transferring geosynthetic research results to the public.
Tingle's research areas of expertise include geosynthetics, soil stabilization, semi-prepared airfields, expedient mat systems, and pavement analysis and design. He is currently serving as the program manager for the U.S. Air Force Airfield Damage Repair program, a $300 million research, development and acquisition program.
He earned his bachelor's and master's in civil engineering from Mississippi State University in 1995 and 1999, respectively. He has completed course requirements for his doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Tingle, a long-term member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers, will serve the TRB for the term of April 2012 to 2015.
