GSL's Ray selected ASCE 2011 Government Civil Engineer of the Year

Vicksburg, Miss. — ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory's (GSL) James C. Ray, P.E., Geosciences and Structures Division, was awarded the 2011 Government Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The Society’s award recognizes distinguished civil engineers in public service. Ray's selection was based on his engineering expertise in developing mitigation measures to protect our infrastructure and on his leadership, character and community service. He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of blast and terrorist threat mitigation of transportation infrastructure security. Ray will be honored at the 2011 ASCE National Conference planned in Memphis, Tenn., in October.
