NEW ORLEANS, LA - ERDC Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory's (CHL) Dr. Julie Rosati, a research hydraulic engineer, and William "Bill" Curtis, technical director for Flood and Coastal Storm Damage Reduction for ERDC, were recently nominated to the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association's (ASBPA) board of directors at the National Coastal Conference in New Orleans, La.

As ASBPA board members, Rosati and Curtis will be engaged with several committees advancing the association's goals of communicating the value of beaches to the public and supporting education of U.S. coastal engineers, scientists and related fields.

Rosati and Curtis join ERDC ASBPA board members Dr. James R. Houston, emeritus; and Joan Pope, formerly with ERDC and currently with Headquarters, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The ASBPA was founded in 1926 to address the need for an organized effort to combat erosion, a serious problem in many coastal areas.
