PYEONGTAEK, South Korea — ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) Researchers Brian Green and Dr. Robert Moser presented the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers PROSPECT course "Concrete Fundamentals" recently at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys (Camp Humphreys) in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
The course was presented to aid the current build up, which will consolidate and transition the U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) from Seoul and other locations to Camp Humphreys by 2016.
The course covered all aspects of concrete materials and construction and was presented to inspectors, engineering technicians, and engineers who deal with concrete and concrete construction issues for their respective commands.
Current construction efforts at Camp Humphreys include 2,300 new acres under development, 11 million cubic meters of engineered fill, 641 new facilities and 2.7 million cubic meters of concrete for new infrastructure.
When construction is completed, Camp Humphreys will be the largest U.S. Army Garrison in Asia with 28,500 Soldiers on more than 3,500 acres.
