TEC Names New Associate Technical Director

ALEXANDRIA, Va – ERDC Topographic Engineering Laboratory’s (TEC) Michael Tischler, was recently named associate technical director (ATD) for ERDC’s Geospatial Research and Engineering (GRE) business area.  As ATD, Tischler has responsibility for managing and providing technical oversight for direct funded and reimbursable GRE projects.  In addition, he will work closely with the GRE technical director on program development.

Tischler’s previous assignments included serving as team lead on an effort in remote soil characterization via conceptual modeling and advanced geophysical and remote sensing techniques.  He also served as the acting ATD.

Tischler earned a bachelor’s in soil science from North Dakota State University and a master’s in soil and water science from the University of Florida.  He is currently pursuing a doctorate in earth systems and geoinformation sciences at George Mason University.

Past awards include the “Apps for Army” mobile software development team winner, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Science Foundation Antarctic Service Medal, ERDC Award for Excellence in Operational Support, the Army Research and Development Achievement Award, Army Greatest Inventions, TEC Director’s Award for Scientific and Technological Achievement, Commander’s Award for Civilian Service, and TEC Director’s Award for Excellence in Operational Support.  Tischler was also a member of ERDC’s Emerging Leaders Alumni Group from 2006-2010.
