VICKSBURG, Miss. — ERDC Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) Research Civil Engineer Dr. Alessandra Bianchini was recently appointed to the International Advisory Committee for the International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (BCRRA).
The committee is currently composed of 24 transportation infrastructure specialists representing 15 countries.
The BCRRA conference is a well attended and well recognized international conference focusing on bearing capacity of transportation infrastructure and has been held every four years since 1982.
Bearing capacity issues are continuously changing as transportation traffic volumes and weights increase, new materials and methods are developed, and new aspects of design and material utilization are brought into focus.
The next conference, BCRRA 2013 Ninth International Conference, will be held in Trondheim, Norway, June 25–27, 2013, and is organized by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, AVINOR and the Norwegian Rail Administration.
