Wittmann and fellow scientist Dr. Zoe Courville recently returned from Antarctica, where they performed critical crevasse detection and mitigation on the most problematic portion of the roughly 1,000-mile long South Pole Traverse (SPoT) route, a three-mile wide shear zone where the McMurdo and Ross ice shelves meet.
