ERDC researchers engage citizen scientists in data collection
Buckets and sieves lie on the beach as part of a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activity during the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) SandSnap event hosted by James Madison University at Jones Beach State Park in New York, June 5, 2021. The activity is part of a STEM beach kit assembled by USACE researchers to educate and engage citizen scientists. The USACE SandSnap initiative encourages citizen scientists to help collect data about sand grain size for scientists and engineers and emphasizes the importance of shoreline management.
