Mattei-Sosa, Medina, Griggs
The U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center-Environmental Laboratory's Jose Mattei-Sosa and Drs. Victor Medina and Chris Griggs receive a patent for their method of recycling chitosan and graphene oxide compound for water purification purposes. Originally designed as membrane technology for use in the Decontamination Effluent Treatment System, graphene oxide is presently an expensive material, costing $250.00/gram. Another patent for developing the material is pending; the three anticipate many applications for this technology.
