FAIRBANKS, Alaska (Feb. 6, 2019) - Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory's Gary Larsen explains the significance of thermokarst cave ice to Brig. Gen. Vincent F. Malone, Col. Daryl Harger, 1st Lt. Evan Harkins and Jared Sapp of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command. The natural research facility helps to reveal how a sequence of climate shifts have affected the permafrost in central Alaska during and following the last Ice Age, enabling researchers to better predict future climate change effects on permafrost. search > CRREL permafrost ERDCinfo@usace.army.mil
