Wayside Interpretative Panels
Amy Phillips, chief of Public Affairs, and Terence Winschel, historian, review the first of more than 50 interpretive panels that will be installed on the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Vicksburg campus. The panels trace the development of the Waterways Experimentation Station /ERDC from its inception to present day. ERDC employees play a significant role in support of the armed forces, maintenance of vital waterways, environmental protection, space exploration and a host of other activities for the nation. From its modest beginning in 1930, WES/ERDC has grown in response to its ever-expanding role and is constantly evolving in nature. Throughout its almost 100 years of service to the nation, WES/ERDC has produced a rich and colorful history.
