A team of researchers with the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory of the U.S. Engineer Research and Development Center have created a ground vehicle terrain surfacing test facility on the ERDC campus. Heavy military vehicles are used to test matting systems used to cross remote airfields, Joint Logistics Over-the-Shore operations, basecamps, roadways and bridges with unfavorable soil conditions.
