The Engineers at Vicksburg, Part 24: Blasted to Freedom
Badly shaken but unscathed by the mine explosion, Abraham became known as the man who was “blown to freedom.” Taken shortly after the siege, Abraham’s portrait would later be displayed in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
