The Engineers at Vicksburg, Part 07: Forts at Grenada Lake
Forts at Grenada Lake: Maj. Samuel Lockett, chief engineer of the Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, constructed fortifications along the Yalobusha River at Grenada that helped thwart Grant’s overland drive on Vicksburg. Two of the nine forts constructed by Lockett can be seen on Corps of Engineers property at Grenada Lake.
