VICKSBURG, Miss. (May 15, 2019) – Senior military leaders and planners from Germany and the U.S. gathered at ERDC Headquarters in Vicksburg, Mississippi, for a two-day meeting of the U.S. - DEU (Germany) SCF-A. The event was co-chaired by the Deputy Assistant Secretaries of the Army for Research and Technology and Defense Exports and Cooperation, and the German Federal Ministry of Defence. Mr. Norbert Weber, FMoD Chief of Branch A II 6, led the German delegation. Ms. Ann Cataldo, DASA DE&C, led the U.S. Army delegation. The event provided a forum for establishing broad cooperation between the armies of the U.S. and Germany in the advancement of materials research, development and acquisition.
The Civil Works R&D booklet provides examples of how R&D has improved the design, assessment, operation and maintenance, and rehabilitation of our nation's water resources infrastructure. Dr. Julie Rosati, lead technical director for flood risk management at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, welcomes participants to the annual Navigation and Flood Risk Management Research Area Review Groups. The RARG is a nation-wide review that covers all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts and divisions and will inform Corps priorities for all civil works direct research and development projects.
Guests from Central Mississippi Turtle Rescue showed an injured turtle to students from the Academy of Innovation during the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Earth Day celebration on April 23, 2019. The theme of Earth Day this year was “Protecting Our Species”.
