Federal Lab Consortium Awards

Our successes are frequently honored with Federal Lab Consortium (FLC) Excellence in Technology Transfer Awards, such as these from 2010:

  • The unique approach to license the BUILDER® Sustainment Management System, designed by Lance Marrano (Civil Engineer) and Michael Grussing (Civil Engineer) received the 2010 FLC Excellence in Technology Transfer Award for their efforts to license the product for the private sector while retaining authorship to continue to support DOD users and serve as a future research and development platform.
  • Bartley Durst (Supervisory Research Civil Engineer), Jason Roth (Research Structural Engineer), Pam Kinnebrew (Research Civil Engineer) and Toney Cummins (Supervisory Research Civil Engineer) received the 2010 FLC Excellence in Technology Transfer Award for excellence in transferring the Modular Protective System, a technology developed by a federal laboratory, to the commercial marketplace.
  • Dr. Charles Weiss (Research Geologist), Dr. Philip Malone (Research Geologist), Sean Morefield (Materials Engineer), Vincent Hock (Metallurgist) and industry partner Pro Perma Engineered Coatings LLC received the 2010 FLC Excellence in Technology Transfer Award for “Corrosion-Resistant Ceramic-Porcelain Enamel for Bonding Concrete to Steel,” a technology that prevents corrosion in steel-reinforced concrete and yields a concrete-to-steel bond three to five times stronger than the standard bond.
  • Dr. Judy Shearer (Research Plant Pathologist) and Dr. Mark Jackson (USDA Agricultural Research Service) received a 2010 FLC Excellence in Technology Transfer Award for “Biological Formations and Techniques for Managing Aquatic Plant Pests.”
