Dr. Jeff Waters is the chief of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s (ERDC) Coastal Observations and Analysis Branch located at the Field Research Facility in Duck, North Carolina.

Waters received his PhD in Geology from the University of New Orleans, his MSc in geology form Northern Arizona University and his BS in Geology from the University of Maine. In 2005, Dr. Waters joined ERDC’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) and served as a program manager for the Regional Sediment Management Program and the National Shoreline Erosion Control Development and Demonstration Program. Since 2008, he has been a branch chief at CHL, first with the Coastal Engineering Branch and since 2013, with the Coastal Observation and Analysis Branch. He has also served as the program manager of the Coastal Field Data Collection Program and the Coastal Ocean Data Systems Program.
