Water Management

We discover, develop and deliver hydro-environmental capabilities and tools to support decision making considering the spatial and temporal distribution of water and to optimize hydropower generation in an environmentally sustainable manner.

CHL provides experimental and computational expertise for solving water resource problems worldwide. Our research and development addresses water resource challenges in groundwater, watersheds, rivers, reservoirs, lakes, estuaries, harbors, coastal inlets and wetlands. Research programs range from design guidance to three-dimensional numerical models.

Our research, development and technology contribute to the strength of the Nation by providing innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions to the Nation’s water resources challenges. Our Nation’s water resources are under increasing pressure from competing uses. Our state-of-the-art technologies help provide safe and resilient communities and infrastructure and help American goods compete in the global marketplace. Our science and technology help the Corps manage existing water resources infrastructure sustainably--in the face of expected climate change and land use change, invasion by exotic species, demographic shifts, and aging structures--to meet the needs of future generations.
