The Committee on Tidal Hydraulics is a permanent committee providing consulting to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on engineering and scientific issues in tidal and related waters. The CTH meets at the request of a Corps of Engineers official, usually a District Engineer, who invites the committee to review one or more District projects and provide advice on those projects. The committee also assists districts with independent technical reviews, workshops, and other needs.
The committee consists of tidal hydraulics experts from Corps of Engineers offices nationwide. It investigates, advises, and reports in the area of tidal hydraulic engineering and science, including aspects such as: sedimentation; hurricane and tidal surges; estuarine circulation; and salt water intrusion
Advisory consulting services are provided to assist field elements in defining problems, developing plans for problem solution, and identifying appropriate expertise to perform necessary studies. Requests for appropriate committee consulting services are to be submitted to the committee chairperson with a copy provided to through CDR HQUSACE (ATTN: CECW-EH). Other requests for advisory assistance received by individual committee members will be referred, when appropriate, to the committee chairperson for action.
