The Committee on Channel Stabilization is a permanent technical advisory Committee in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which provides the organization with consulting and other services in the field of alluvial channel hydraulics and channel stabilization. The Committee is under the general direction of the Chief, Hydraulics and Hydrology Division, Directorate of Civil Works, HQUSACE. Corps field offices may request the Committee's input on various hydraulic and channel stabilization projects.
The Committee consists of Corps of Engineers experts in the areas of alluvial channel hydraulics and channel stabilization. The Committee generally meets in response to an invitation from a field office to assess a site-specific problem. However, the Committee is also tasked with a continuing evaluation of methodologies for design and analysis of stable alluvial channels. The Committee may determine problem areas and recommend studies, investigations, and/or research to provide improved analytical techniques and guidance. Pertinent information is disseminated in reports.

Advisory consulting services are provided to assist field elements in defining problems, developing plans for problem solution, and identifying appropriate expertise to perform necessary studies. Any district office may request the Committee's services by contacting the Committee Chairperson, John Remus, Northwest Omaha District, or by asking a Committee member to present the request to the Chairman.
