Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL)

Duck, N.C., -- The collaborative During Nearshore Event Experiment pilot study is now underway along the Outer Banks of North Carolina, home to the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center's Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory’s Field Research Facility.
Dr. Brian McFall, a research civil engineer with the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center, stands outside the Deltares building in Delft, Netherlands. McFall spent a year in the Netherlands working at the Dutch company as part of the U.S. Army’s Engineer and Scientist Exchange Program.

Dr. Brandan Scully, research civil engineer at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, discusses his current civil works project at the annual Navigation and Flood Risk Management Research Area Review Groups held at CHL in April. The RARG is a nation-wide review that covers all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers districts and divisions and will inform Corps priorities for all civil works direct research and development projects.
Matthew Farthing, a research hydraulic engineer at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory and his colleague, Mario Putti, outside the mathematics department at the University of Padua in Padua, Italy. Farthing spent a year on sabbatical teaching a graduate level mathematical engineering course at the university.

During COL Aguilar's visit to ERDC CHL's Soils Lab, David Perkey demonstrates the River-PICS system, an integrated settling column, laser diffraction grain size analyzer, and CTD probe.
